Top 5 Best Android Apps of January 2019

From phonebook to Instagram to Netflix, apps are now part of our daily life. Today I'm going to tell you about three apps that I think the top 5 apps of January. That doesn't mean they released in January but, I think as the 1st 'best apps' post in this blog, they're worthy of putting here.

They'll be in random order.

1. Skip Ads

skip youtube ads

This app does what it says. It automatically skips those 5 seconds youtube ads in the start of a video. So you don't have to press the skip ads button. Although you have to give some required permission to the app to do this. If you're so lazy that you can not even press the skip button then this app is for you. You have to keep this app running in the background in order to make it work.
It also has a paid version which enables some other features.

2. Proton VPN

proton vpn

Do you live in a country where the govt. or your service provider has more control over your Internet than you do? then VPN is your thing.

A VPN should unblock any website or app and also keep your browsing data safe. Which is true for most of the paid ones but more than 90% of the free VPNs sell your browsing data to make a profit.
Proton VPN has one of the best privacy policy. 'Unlike other VPN services, with ProtonVPN there’s no free plan trial period, and you can browse as much as you want. ProtonVPN is the ONLY free VPN that has no privacy-invading ads, no malware, no bandwidth limits, and does not secretly sell user data. Its free service is supported by paid plans, which has more privacy features and access to faster, exclusive servers.' Although the free version has server limitations and slower speed, I still recommend it over other free VPNs.

3. Portra

PORTRA – Stunning art filter

This app gives really nice effects to your photos. It takes already good photos and gives them a whole new feel. Images are processed locally (you have to download filters first). Unlike many apps, this app doesn't require a constant internet and no images are uploaded to the internet, which is great for privacy. If you've ever used Prisma, you'll find this app very interesting.

4. Google Keep - Notes and Lists

Google Keep

The truth is that most things simply go in one ear and out the other these days, including my own ideas. So when something important pops into my head I've learned to jot it down in Google's Keep App(Android/web) and make sure I'll be able to find it again when I need it.
With this app, you can quickly capture what’s on your mind and get a reminder later at the right place or time. Speak a voice memo on the go and have it automatically transcribed. Grab a photo of a poster, receipt or document and easily organize or find it later in the search. And you can even share it with friends and families.

5. UTS by Centre for Railway Information Systems(India Only app)

UTS mobile

If you are a citizen of India and use trains to travel to places then this is a must-have app. UTS on mobile app is an Indian Railways official android mobile ticketing app to book unreserved train tickets directly from your mobile either by using their R-Wallet or you can also use payTM, freecharge, mobikwik wallet services as of now. You can also directly pay from your debit/credit card after selecting freecharge and other wallets even if you don't have an account on them.
One great thing is that, if you buy a ticket it will be saved in this app as QR code. So you can show the ticket to TTE even if you don't have internet.
